Potter at Spirit Bay Pottery

At my studio in Spirit Bay, on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, I enjoy creating both decorative and functional pottery. I use various types of clay, and I have developed many glazes that coordinate well with them. I am inspired by the magic that comes when different glazes combine or simply form a beautiful tactile surface.

Most of my work is wheel-thrown, but I also make wall pieces for outdoor use. I fire in an oxidation kiln, bisquing to cone 04 and glaze firing to cone 6. All my pottery is durable and kitchen ware is food safe.

I am not a production potter, although I do make sets. Most pieces are one of a kind. I learned from the many potters at the Waterloo Potters Workshop in Ontario, since 1996. Having my own studio beside my house in Spirit Bay allows me to experiment and to focus on form, function, and artistry.
